Set in Regency London. Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset agree to a fake courtship. Simon wants to deter the mamas who parade their daughters before him, while Daphne wants to get more marriage prospects and see her reputation soar. Julia Quinn does a great job making you feel as though you are in that time period and has lots of strong characters who stay true to their values.

Season one of Bridgerton follows this book in the series.
